Parks charrette - 2

On August 28, 2017, we launched a series of design charrettes to get your input on key aspects of The Junipers. These charrettes will be interactive opportunities for our neighbors to collaborate with members of our design team.

Charrette 4 Agenda and Background

Arlene from the 33North outreach team outlined the agenda for Charrette 4. She shared a brief overview of Charrette 3: Circulation and provided key takeaways.

She explained that the goal of the evening was to refine the vision for the new Glens neighborhood park planned for The Junipers and that landscape architect Bruce Jett was back to reveal park concepts based on the feedback received at Charrette 2: Glens Neighborhood Park – round 1 (9/13/17).

Refining the Vision for a New Park

Bruce reviewed the key takeaways from Charrette 2 and explained how his team of landscape architects incorporated neighbor feedback.

The comments and suggestions were organized into and presented as four park themes: family, neighborhood gathering, active and passive. A draft concept park plan* was prepared for each. Bruce walked attendees through each draft concept and pointed out the amenities within each one.

Following the group discussion, attendees were asked to provide their comments on a feedback worksheet. Likes included the inclusion of tennis courts, dog park, shade areas, restrooms and green space. Dislikes included the north/south alignment of the parking lot and the passive use concept. Attendees also suggested moving the fitness pods out of the park and positioning them along the Social Loop.

Conclusion/Next steps

33North’s design team of land planners, traffic engineers, architects, landscape architects, environmental engineers, civil engineers and acoustical engineers is hard at work on the land use plan and application to the City for The Junipers. The goal is to present the draft land use plan at a community open house before the holidays.

The team shared that this would be the last charrette before application.

Charrette Four adjourned at 8:30 p.m.
