Affordable housing for
low-income seniors

As directed by the City Planning Commission, along with members of the RPPB and other stakeholders, we were obligated to look at ways to increase density in response to the area’s housing crisis and vanishing options for fixed-income seniors.

We understand our responsibility to create Affordable Housing and believe we can do so in a way that maintains our commitment to compatibility with the existing Glens neighborhood. To meet both objectives, The Junipers includes 81 (or 15% of the total 536) on-site Affordable Housing units.

The updated site plan was announced at the April 4, 2018 RPPB LUC Committee meeting.

The 81 apartments, known as Juniper Commons, will be contained in a three-story building at the southern end of The Junipers. One and two-bedroom options will be available for rent to seniors (age 55+) based on income.

Juniper Commons will be built and managed by Chelsea Investment Corporation, a local leader specializing in the development of Affordable Housing. The architecture and layout for Junipers Commons is consistent with the market rate products in the community. Private amenities will be included for residents.

Although Juniper commons is three-stories, it will not impact the views of adjacent neighbors. Check out the 3D flyover video to see how Juniper Commons ties into The Junipers.
